[0.1] Hello and welcome back to the Woman-owned podcast. I'm Eleanor beaten and in today's episode [5.4] We are going to have a marvelous rich conversation about how to plan out your next chapter in business [14.1] without burning out don't go anywhere [19.0] Welcome to Woman-owned the world's only podcast for ambitious women founders who want to scale from [26.3] from 200k to 2 million plus. [29.4] I'm your host, Eleanor Beaton. [31.5] Every Tuesday, I'll take you behind the scenes [34.5] with case study interviews, [36.8] where leading entrepreneurs will reveal [39.3] specific growth tools and tactics [42.3] that are actually moving the needle in their companies. [45.5] You'll learn exactly what they did, how they did it, [49.2] and importantly, how much money they made. [52.4] And along the way, I'll share tips and insights [55.9] from my own journey, growing my media and coaching company [60.1] from my very first $200 contract to millions in revenue. [65.4] If you are an established business owner, [68.2] looking for practical and advanced scaling tips, [72.1] the woman-owned podcast is your essential weekly listening. [80.5] So a couple of weeks ago on the podcast, [83.0] I interviewed Sarah Young, [85.4] and you can go back and check out that podcast. [87.5] It's all about how she bought, scaled and sold a public affairs agency. [93.4] Sarah Young is a fantastic entrepreneur and business leader who went on after she sold her [98.7] PR agency to fund a venture capital organization that funds innovative women entrepreneurs. [105.0] She's doing a year-long residency at Harvard, just an extraordinary woman. [109.0] In that podcast, we talked about third chapters. [112.8] like what happens when a woman has gone out into the world, created all kinds of career [119.8] success, has exited that chapter either because she sold her business, maybe you decided [125.2] to kind of make a pivot or just make a change. [128.2] So you're into a new chapter. [129.3] The last thing you want to do is retire. [131.6] You have tons of energy, tons of wisdom, tons of smarts. [135.5] How do you map out your next chapter? [137.9] So that was a really interesting conversational thread that I picked up again in my interview [144.4] today with just an incredible leader, a very wise woman and a dear friend Anna Lazzano. [152.3] So Anna Lazzano is a really interesting entrepreneur. [155.6] I'm going to tell you about how I met her, but I want to give you a little taste of her [158.9] story. [159.9] So she's an MBA trained business leader who went on to found a product based company. [167.3] She built and scaled that product based company and then she had an exit, like a really [172.2] successful exit, which is of course like the dream for any entrepreneur to build a company [177.6] and sell it. [178.6] It's for many entrepreneurs. [179.6] It's going to be one of the biggest pay days of their lives. [181.9] It's a huge accomplishment. [183.9] It's just a great thing all around. [186.6] And then she was faced with a question that so many entrepreneurs who are listening to [191.4] this podcast have experienced. [193.0] And that question is, now what? [195.6] Like what next? [196.6] Now, like many type A leaders, even a very conscious self-aware leader, [203.0] Anna Lizano knew that whatever she did in her next chapter, [207.8] she wanted to do it in a different way. [211.2] She wanted to do it in a way that on her body, [213.9] she wanted to do it in a way that honored her feminine energy, [217.7] that didn't mean she had to work like 60 hour weeks or grind it out. [222.3] she just wanted to open up a new chapter by doing things completely differently than how [228.8] she'd done her earlier chapters. [230.7] And I think this is such a relevant conversation to so many women because so many of us are [235.7] in places in our lives where we are looking at new chapters, whether we exited the business, [240.6] whether we shut down a business, whether we're pivoting or we just start this phase [244.6] where we're like, I can't keep doing it the way I've done it before. [247.8] I need to do things differently in this next chapter of my life. [251.8] And this conversation is going to be really fascinating because she walks through, I think [256.6] I counter like a five or six step process that she went through over a period of 18 months [262.7] to create a life and business that is just truly remarkable today. [267.4] Now, I met Anna Lizzano. [270.1] We've been introduced by a friend and a guest who's been on the show before Renee Warren. [276.8] So I kind of knew who she was. And she was one of a small group of powerhouse women that I went on a retreat to [284.1] in Tulum earlier this year. And it was a really life-changing gathering, I will say. I don't know about [291.1] the vortex. I was women gathered. It was truly amazing and life-changing. But the thing about Anna, [297.8] you know, that was so powerful. We had a number of conversations around a number of different days. [302.6] And we were really talking about sort of going deeper, bringing more feminine energy into our businesses. [309.6] And she really helped me actually make a big shift in change and how I was doing some things in my business, which is just opened up remarkable opportunity for me. [318.6] And I thought she was just so wise. I knew that I wanted to have her come on the show. [322.6] And we will actually be colliding a retreat for high level women entrepreneurs into loom. [328.6] We're gonna be doing it in November of this year. [331.1] Spots are very limited. [332.4] It's going to be a gorgeous, deep, luxurious experience [336.1] that is really all about combining, like, [339.8] shape-shifting strategy for your business [342.7] with real, experiential things to bring out [346.4] that those feminine leadership qualities within you [348.8] so that you can show up as a really empowered [351.6] feminine leader in your business. [352.8] So I'm looking forward to it. [354.6] You'll hear us talking about it. [356.1] If you want any details, just let me know. [358.2] just mess reach out on LinkedIn or Instagram, [360.1] tell me you want details on Tulum, [362.0] we're finalizing them now and I'll send them over as soon [364.1] as I have them, but some of the spots [365.5] are already spoken for. [367.2] All right, I think that's it. [368.7] Without further ado, here is my incredible conversation [372.5] with the beautiful Anna Lozano. [375.0] Anna Lozano, I would love to start with your woman-owned story. [380.1] Mmm, thank you so much for having me. [382.8] Gosh, my story of entrepreneurship starts 15 years ago, [387.4] And it's just been such a wild journey of experiences [392.0] and opportunities and trusting myself on this journey, [396.1] but also really diving deep in [397.9] and getting to know myself more deeply and powerfully. [401.7] But in 2016, I had this idea with a friend of mine [408.3] because we had been so deep and to personal growth [412.0] and mindset work and affirmations. [414.9] And my little one was nine months old. [417.6] She had toddlers and we looked at each other [419.8] and we said like, what if we created an affirmation company [423.3] that would be the foundation for our children [425.8] to really live and embody these skills, [429.9] these tools that we learn as adults [432.4] when we're undoing all the programming [435.7] that we already hold within who we are. [438.9] And so we launched nine months later, [441.4] the company called Love Power Co. [444.7] And it was the affirmation company. [447.4] And it was the birth of a beautiful intentional product line [451.3] to really support moms and navigating [453.8] this journey of motherhood, [455.6] but with mindfulness tools [458.1] to support her on this journey. [460.3] And to do it consciously, [461.7] because so many of us, high powered women [464.9] and high level women, [466.2] we're going through emotions. [468.6] And for me, it was really the moment of realization, [472.1] like everything shifted when I brought more consciousness [474.6] into everything that I do, business and motherhood. [477.9] And I just wanted everyone to experience this. [480.8] And so we grew that company for six years, [483.9] went through the pandemic. [485.4] I know you're gonna ask me questions to dive deeper in, [487.4] but I'll just kind of summarize it all, [490.1] which was insane having a product-based business [493.0] during the pandemic. [494.4] And then we went through the exit process. [497.8] And it was our intention to build something, [500.6] to scale something so beautiful that eventually we could sell. [505.0] And that's what we did officially exiting in 2022. [511.6] And it was a beautiful journey. [513.6] And it had all the chaos, the success, [517.8] the self introspection, the navigating a pandemic, [523.4] all of it. [524.5] Mm, when you think about building love powered co, [528.5] what were sort of the one or two things that you think [532.3] contributed most to the success of that company [534.9] that allowed you to exit it? [536.5] I would say the first one really was the intention behind it. [539.4] Like, I remember before this even was an idea [542.9] writing down in my journal, [545.2] like God's very universe source, [547.0] like support me in creating something [549.6] that is gonna be deeply meaningful [552.3] and impactful for the world. [554.4] And that's the frequency that this company, [557.0] this product, this company that then was mine and not mine any longer, right? [563.0] That was accident held and it still holds. [566.0] That's the beauty of it. [567.0] Is that intention is still flowing through the products that continue to be on [571.9] the shelves of retailers around Canada and the US. [575.6] And so that was one. [576.7] The other one was obviously learning all of the skill sets that came with [581.8] building, launching, scaling, and selling a product based business, which were [585.5] skills that my business partner and I did not hold. [589.0] I went to business school, I did the case studies, [592.0] and then it's like, here you go, [593.9] this is your business school in a box and figure it out. [599.1] And so that was our devotion was to figuring it out. [603.2] And I would say the second thing here [605.0] that contributed to the successful, successful accent [608.4] was that I stayed in my zone of genius [611.5] and my business partner stayed in her zone of genius, [614.6] And we outsource the rest. [616.6] What was your zone of genius? [619.4] Sales, marketing, relationship building, [622.6] collaborations, connections, all of that. [626.1] When you think about exiting, [627.7] I think it's the conclusion of a chapter, [630.4] of an entrepreneurial chapter to successfully exit a business. [634.3] What lessons did you glean from exiting your company [638.0] that are transferable to other women entrepreneurs [641.5] who may be looking at an exit [643.6] or maybe hadn't considered one and could be, you know, [647.5] with the right kind of guidance. [648.5] Yeah, what did you learn? [650.0] Yeah, so many, you know, and it was trial by error. [653.1] First we hired a business broker. [655.4] It was interesting because this business broker [657.2] actually loved our products. [658.9] So it was really interesting to experience that. [662.1] But the potential buyers that she was bringing to us, [665.6] we couldn't actually visualize them taking this company, [670.0] like I've got a group of folks right now [671.2] and continuing to grow it. [673.2] And that for us was this integrity piece [676.0] that it wasn't just an exit to say we had an exit. [679.3] Like this was a baby that we burst, [682.2] that we brought into life, [683.4] that we nurtured, that we grew. [685.9] And we wanted the company to live on. [689.0] This wasn't again like that. [690.1] Checkbox, oh, I had a successful exit. [692.0] I get to now put it in my LinkedIn and Instagram bio [694.3] and have the money in my bank account. [696.5] Absolutely not. [697.5] This was that intentionality that it was created with, [701.0] continued on throughout the entire process. [703.4] And so we paused for a moment, [705.8] as we were having these meetings, [707.1] as they were going through our books, [708.4] as we were in it. [710.3] And I just said to my business firm, [711.8] like we're not finding the right person. [714.4] And so what's it gonna take for us to align [718.2] with likely the woman that was going to take this [722.2] and treat it like her baby? [724.1] And so we paused, we paused all the meetings, [726.3] there was lots of meetings. [727.5] And I actually went on my Instagram, [729.1] people leave this, like to this day, I can't believe this. [731.5] And I shared my heart and I said, you know, [734.1] it is now time for us to exit and for this company to move on. [738.2] And the woman who purchased the company lived in my Instagram. [742.1] You believe that? [742.9] Knowing you, [743.9] I can't, [745.4] but if it were someone else, maybe not. [749.0] And then it was brilliant, [750.4] because now we had a business broker [752.0] that got to do all the behind the scenes [754.0] and you know, all the things that had to have, [756.8] we had to go through the processes [758.6] we had to go through it and to actually pass and hand over the company and to have that exit, [764.3] tied up with a bow, we had someone taking care of that. [767.5] But we knew the woman that was purchasing it was the right person for this. [773.7] Now one of the things that we decided we would explore in this particular case study because [779.5] we could do an entire case day just on love-powered code. [783.6] But what we wanted to talk about was kind of the next chapter of an increasingly, I'm [788.2] speaking to so many women entrepreneurs and leaders who are like, there is a next chapter for me. [794.4] So they've created a ton of success. They've hit the milestones they wanted to hit. And [799.1] you know, one of the fundamental stages or rights of passage in the heroine's journey is that [803.5] she gets everything that she thought she wanted. And she's like, this is it. You know, and then [807.2] she goes on to do some of the great work of her life, which is like the next chapter. So [811.9] So like you said, we kind of tied, you tied the bow on love powered co. [817.3] You had a great business broker to help handle the details of that transition. [823.1] You had the right kind of buyer. [825.3] You wrap up the sale of that company. [827.1] You know it's in good hands. [828.3] You have the money in your bank account. [830.4] And then the big question is what's next? [833.3] So this conversation is really a lot about a guide, [837.3] like using your own example, like how one woman navigated [841.9] that what's next and how you did it [845.4] in sort of the opposite way [847.3] in which you built the chapter that preceded it, [849.2] which I think is so cool. [850.1] So let's kind of talk about what it felt like [853.6] to be like what's next. [855.2] So you exit the company, the deal is done. [858.6] What was that experience like for you? [861.6] I'd say it's 2020 and I was driving to my meditation spot [866.4] before hopping on this interview. [869.4] And truthfully, the What's Next was rushing [873.7] into what I thought was going to be next. [877.6] And the interesting thing about that is logically, [882.4] that's what I thought I had to do. [884.5] This chapter is closed. [885.6] What's the next thing I'm gonna birth? [887.4] What's the next thing I'm gonna create? [889.5] Naturally, being a high-driven, type A personality, [894.1] I went straight into that. [895.9] That's what happened actually. [897.4] What happened was my family came to Mexico [901.1] a couple months later for the month of February. [904.3] And I realized that, and this is again, [908.2] in hindsight 2020, I didn't realize this in the moment, [911.0] but I realized knowing now what I know [914.4] that there was no way I was going to be successful simply [919.6] by rushing into something next. [921.6] What needed to happen next was deep introspection. [925.5] was celebration for what was. [928.4] I realized this morning, again, [929.8] that I didn't celebrate nor did I grieve [932.8] the sale of that company. [934.9] It's those two polarities that I didn't actually [938.1] allow myself to fully. [940.4] Sure, I had a glass of bubbly and like high five, [943.6] we did this, but like true celebration [947.6] for what was created during the space of six years [951.9] with a baby and a toddler, [954.7] and the opportunity to have a product continue to live [959.4] on like really embodying this deep gratitude [963.2] and celebration did not happen. [965.1] Also the grieving of a partnership now dissolved, [969.5] the grieving of no longer, [971.6] like this was my identity, [973.0] like Anna was known as the love power co-founder, right? [976.5] This no longer was. [978.7] And so we came to Mexico for vacation. [981.8] What drew me in was feeling into this lifestyle [987.1] of completely different energy of lifestyle, [990.2] not fast paced, relaxed. [993.2] People really truly enjoying their days. [995.8] And I said, what if we moved to Mexico for school year? [999.4] Like what would that look like? [1000.9] I rented the house six months later, we were in Mexico. [1004.6] Now, logically, I moved my family to Mexico [1008.4] The kids could learn Spanish, Eleanor. [1010.5] That was my reason. [1012.1] Ha ha ha. [1013.6] What I didn't realize was the deep healing [1018.2] and introspection inward journey [1020.4] that I was going to embark on. [1022.2] And what that looked like for me [1024.3] was being extremely uncomfortable [1027.2] in this uncertainty of what was next. [1031.5] And I do wanna preface this by saying, [1033.3] like I didn't take time off, [1034.6] I was coaching a mentoring women [1035.9] who wanted to launch in scale [1037.1] and sell their own companies. [1038.5] This was happening behind the scenes. [1040.5] But this bigger vision, this next thing [1045.2] that I was going to create with like deep purpose, [1048.9] deep fulfillment, deep passion. [1051.8] I didn't have it clear. [1053.9] And so I really surrendered [1057.0] in total discomfort of this way of life. [1060.6] And I started dancing on the beach, [1063.5] an Eleanor that was so uncomfortable. [1066.1] I said, like literally danced on the beach. [1068.5] Like literally I went to groove. [1070.3] It's called groove on the beach. [1071.8] And I had this like pressure in my chest. [1074.5] Like how can I be doing this when I should be doing meetings [1076.9] or I should be jumping on discovery calls [1079.0] or I should be selling my offers. [1081.1] But there was something like pushing me to just be. [1084.5] Like just enjoy this. [1086.3] And then after these dancing on the beach classes, [1089.3] you know what the women did? [1090.5] They went in community and enjoyed coffee. [1093.1] And I'm like, but it's 10 o'clock. [1095.2] Yeah, it's 10 o'clock! [1097.4] I need to be working! [1099.0] So this was a year and a half of me [1103.7] testing, trying, exploring this new way of being. [1109.9] Another big piece of it was leaning more on my husband [1114.0] in a sense of war both entrepreneurs. [1115.9] We both consciously created this lifestyle of freedom. [1118.5] Like freedom has been our core value [1119.9] since we became entrepreneurs. [1121.7] But leaning onto him and saying like, I trust you, [1124.5] like you're thriving also. [1127.0] And this is a space for me that I'm going to take [1131.5] because I know that that next chapter [1133.7] is gonna come from this deep work. [1136.7] I hired a coach who was completely opposite [1140.2] of who I would normally coach with. [1142.1] I hired Neil Donald Walsh, [1143.8] the author of Conversations with God, and he kicked my ass. [1148.0] He really shifted my perspective of like, [1151.8] what is this all for? [1153.8] rather than chasing the next thing [1157.3] and knowing what I'm creating and pushing it [1160.5] and driving it and just being in the doing, [1164.7] I started to relax in my nervous system. [1167.3] And being like, this is what it feels like [1169.9] to actually have a relaxed nervous system. [1171.9] And we actually need to do this in order to be able [1175.7] to hold more. [1177.1] Like you talk about half a million dollar months, [1179.9] The amount of inner work it takes to prepare for those [1184.1] is the work that I'm actually in right now [1185.8] and still in the process of it. [1187.5] And let's see where you wanna go next, [1189.9] but it was unpacking of all this conditioning [1193.5] of the way that success has to be done [1197.0] in the North American culture. [1199.2] And so for me, it was coming to Mexico [1201.9] and trying on this new way of being [1205.1] that was so uncomfortable [1206.9] until it became a part of me. [1208.8] I guess if we go back to the beginning, [1212.7] because as you've been sort of taken us through the story, [1214.8] which is just really fascinating and meaningful. [1217.7] And I think the thing that strikes me is [1219.9] it's not like you were coming from the oil and gas industry, [1225.7] and had this realization, like you were coming from [1230.7] being the co-founder of an affirmations-based company. [1235.8] So you had come to arrive at this point, [1238.2] you've built a company that is anchored in intention and is anchored in being present and is [1243.7] anchored in, you know, all of these really powerful intentional forces. And still, when you [1251.5] close that chapter, that there was that sort of culture of go, go, go was still strong enough, [1258.2] you know, that it impacted you. Even somebody who was arriving at this place with a high degree [1263.2] consciousness anyway. Yeah and it's just the programming like that's how I was raised and I was [1268.9] raised as a Polish immigrant to believe that the only way to achieve success was to work hard [1277.0] and even looking back at the love powered code journey I didn't take a mat leave. I had a nine-month [1282.6] old and then when we launched in 2017 I realized I was pregnant and so it was really like hustling [1289.9] and working hard through everything without like fully nurturing self. [1295.8] I didn't ask for a time off. [1297.1] There was no time off. [1297.9] We were scaling and it's like you have to leverage the momentum. [1301.6] You have to continue doing. [1303.4] And yes, we had team. [1304.6] Yes, we had it all. [1305.9] But when I look at like that true feeling inside, it was a constant doing. [1311.0] It was a constant go go go. [1313.4] And I feel a big piece of this realization of being like moving into this space [1318.7] and actually embracing this possibly different way of doing [1324.5] was because I arrived and I was like, [1327.3] and so what? [1328.3] Like if you miss those moments with your children, [1331.8] next thing you know, they're no longer little [1335.3] and you just hustled your way through it. [1337.6] And so it's this questioning of what is itself for [1341.6] that allowed me before I started creating [1345.1] the next big vision, the next big chapter [1347.6] to lean into that exploration so that when I start creating the new, [1351.2] I can actually do it from this feeling, [1353.9] a fulfillment, passion, purpose. [1356.6] And not again, just to check it off the box, [1358.1] like, oh, I meditated today. [1359.6] No, no, no. [1360.4] Like, I am body this. [1362.2] Today, I canceled my morning to prepare for this call, [1366.5] to prepare for the call I have afterwards. [1368.8] I went to the ocean, [1370.9] hand on heart, [1372.8] gratitude, [1374.3] breath work. [1376.0] And my question for myself was what frequency, [1379.0] what energy do I wanna bring to this conversation? [1382.7] And it was a deep surrender of I trust myself. [1385.4] And I trust you that we're gonna have a conversation [1387.8] that is meant for every single woman listening [1390.2] for this podcast, listening to this podcast. [1393.2] And so that's how I live my day today. [1395.9] And with that year and a half of uncertainty, [1400.0] chaos trying on discovering, [1402.3] rebalancing the masculine, feminine energies, [1406.2] came clarity of like, okay, [1408.9] this is what I'm actually meant to be doing [1410.9] as I'm meant to be working with women [1413.8] who operate from old programming [1417.1] because there's another way to do it that feels so yummy [1421.5] is really the word that's coming through. [1423.5] Like we get to be successful [1425.5] and we get to feel it so deeply [1428.6] and enjoy the entire process. [1431.0] This is the next chapter. [1434.6] Maybe you've heard this expression. [1436.4] You can't read the label from inside the bottle. [1440.2] If you are a business owner doing more than 200K per year, [1444.5] chances are you are just a few best practices away [1448.3] from significantly increasing your revenue and your open time. [1453.2] But where do you focus first? [1454.9] And how do you prioritize? [1457.2] Enter the growth audit. [1458.8] This is a brief strategy call with my team [1462.2] where we'll map out your current marketing sales [1465.4] and delivery process to see what's working and what's not, [1469.4] will identify what's possible for you and your business [1472.6] over the next 90 days and beyond, [1475.2] will uncover the number one bottleneck [1477.3] restricting your growth and holding you back from scaling [1481.0] and will develop a simple three step action plan [1484.2] that will get you more leads, clients and cash. [1487.5] And the best part, it's completely free. [1490.0] To schedule your growth audit, go to saffimedia.co forward slash growth audit. [1496.3] All one word. [1497.4] That's saffimedia.co forward slash growth audit. [1501.9] S-A-F-I-M-E-D-I-A.co forward slash growth audit. [1510.8] It's kind of like a guide through this really important rite of passage because when you [1515.9] think about, I have spent a lot of time studying Maureen Murdoch's work around the [1520.4] heroin's journey. And in the heroin's journey, you know, at a young age, most women in our [1525.6] society start to sort of separate from the feminine and align more with the masculine. I always saw [1532.1] this as something that was sad, but I have actually since come to see this as not sad at all, [1538.5] because it's the desire to integrate the feminine and the masculine. Like when the woman reaches [1544.3] her pinnacle and is like, this is it. And then there becomes that deep desire to turn inward. [1549.6] it's that desire to unite those two that where I think women create so much power. [1557.1] And I think about muscle and like muscle builds because you put it under duress, the fibers rip apart, [1563.3] and it's when they fuse together. Like that's when the power is. And so what I hear you saying is [1568.4] going through this journey and being very conscious of going through this journey, like your own [1574.0] sort of revelation, oh my gosh, there's this whole other side of me and I will not move forward [1580.4] with another chapter until I have tapped into this, until I've united, you know, these two things [1587.0] and I feel really whole and that's the place from which I'm going to pursue my next chapter [1591.5] and by the way, I know how to do this and I would love, you know, my next chapter is about guiding [1598.3] other women to do this. You know, that's really what like I'm hearing in your story. [1602.9] Yes. And also, you know, the judgment of the feminine, that's a big thing that we're [1607.9] raised with is like, no, the feminine is weak and she's emotional and she's just flowing or dancing [1615.4] through life. You know, whatever that perception you have of the feminine, but what I feel now is [1621.3] she is powerful. She's wise, she's fierce, she's magnetic, and yet we're not [1628.5] discrediting our masculine. Our masculine is our driver, it's our safety, it's our [1634.3] security, it's our discipline, and yet when like you said when we integrate them [1639.1] together, this is that next chapter that we can all embody, but there's no [1645.3] how faking our way through it. [1648.1] Like it really has to be feeling our way through it. [1651.7] And I remember having this conversation with myself, [1653.9] like I was just so sick and tired, [1655.3] like worries that would come through old programming, [1659.1] especially being raised immigrant Polish, [1661.6] was you have success. [1663.5] What if you lose it? [1665.3] Like what if it goes away? [1666.8] What if this all crashes and crumbles? [1669.0] And having those thoughts in the back of my mind [1671.7] is exhausting. [1673.6] And then they're not actually being fully present [1677.0] that feeling of just constantly pushing, [1680.6] like I was so sick and tired of that. [1683.0] And so it was taking inventory of what was I done with? [1687.4] What was no longer? [1689.8] Like I had no time and no availability for that anymore [1694.3] because I didn't wanna create from that space [1696.3] of worry of doubt of people pleasing. [1699.7] It was truly like finding, [1701.9] refining and rediscovering myself, [1704.4] and what brings me that joy, that pleasure, [1707.3] what is the feminine for me? [1708.8] I remember in this whole, you know, [1710.2] reconnection of divine feminine [1712.7] was coming through on social media. [1714.0] And I'm like, I don't wanna take baths [1716.4] in the middle of the day. [1718.1] And so it was what does it look like for me [1722.8] to embody my divine feminine? [1725.4] And yeah, the fun part of it was dancing on the beach [1727.9] and then being really uncomfortable. [1729.3] I'm like, okay, well great, [1730.3] this is another point of evidence. [1731.7] We have to go deep for here. [1733.2] Why do I have such a big problem [1734.8] with dancing on the beach and enjoying coffee [1736.6] because I should be working, right? [1738.4] It's like, like this is the journey and the process, [1743.4] but it's really just like going in and feeling like, [1747.2] okay, how do I wanna feel today? [1749.4] And what does that look like in this moment in time? [1752.5] And that's when I got to start to play with both energies. [1755.7] I'm like, the feminine today wants to go [1758.5] and start the day with meditation. [1760.5] The masculine has called scheduled for the rest of the day [1764.5] and therefore I need to ask for help. [1766.5] Like I need to find a babysitter. [1768.4] I need to ask my partner for support [1771.0] and having that structure and system in place [1773.6] to be able to hold all that I wanted to create. [1779.5] As you were talking through your own kind of experience [1783.2] from this sort of exit of your company [1786.0] to where you are today [1787.7] where rather than kind of jumping headlong into the next thing, [1790.7] you actually gave yourself space to approach it [1793.8] in a completely opposite way [1795.4] and also with a huge amount of intention. [1797.7] So here are the steps I got. [1799.7] I'm gonna share them with you. [1801.4] So the first thing sort of step zero, [1803.6] it's kind of like the precursor is [1806.4] you're probably gonna have a knee jerk reaction. [1808.7] So for those of you guys who are like, [1810.7] you know that you're in your next chapter, [1812.9] and I was talking about with her initial knee jerk reaction, [1815.9] which is, okay, I've sold it, I had my glass of bubbly, [1818.6] go, go, go, go, go, because that's how you trained yourself. [1822.5] And so to kind of see and recognize, [1825.1] like that's sort of how it begins [1827.2] that you're rushing headlong into something else [1829.1] because you just can't stand the agony of not doing. [1832.6] Yeah. [1833.4] The discomfort of not doing. [1836.3] That's what it is. [1837.1] Yes, yes, yeah. [1838.7] So step one, okay, or step zero. [1841.0] Step one was to honor the closing of a chapter, [1845.9] and you talked about specifically the celebration [1848.4] and the grief. [1849.3] So to really create space for yourself, [1852.8] to honor the closing down of a chapter, [1855.2] to both celebrate everything that chapter taught you, [1858.6] who it made you, how it helped you, the lessons, [1862.4] but also to give yourself that space to grieve [1865.2] the loss and change of an identity and relationships, [1868.5] and things that are no longer because of the closing of that chapter. [1872.3] That's kind of one of the first most important steps in the journey that I hear you talking about. [1877.5] You gave yourself the opportunity to do that very intentionally. [1880.6] Then the next thing I heard was you started talking about after you'd given yourself that space, [1888.0] you started to be very aware of things that you use the word drew you in. [1894.0] So, like, the dancing on the beach, so there was like, you had the ability now to not only [1898.4] be aware of what drew you in. But when you were feeling that draw to kind of go do it, [1903.0] go do it. It is comfort. Yes. Yes. Right. So we talked about dancing on the beach. Like what were some [1908.8] of the other things that drew you in that made the most difference? It really was the things that [1916.5] were complete opposite of what I would normally do, right? And ceremony. There's a lot of [1922.0] ceremony experiences here and that's sitting and embracing the moon and what the moon, [1928.4] the energy that it holds, right? I've never been to full moon ceremonies, but it drew me [1934.1] in sitting in breathwork sessions. So things I would do, you know, I would always go to the gym, [1939.4] I would, a lot of masculine energy. I would do cold plunges and colognea, a lot of the like [1944.3] the masculine energy. And here I was like, okay, I can't cold plant because it's like a million [1949.7] So what am I gonna do? [1952.3] So, okay, there's a full moon ceremony. [1955.2] Okay, there's a breathwork session, [1956.9] but yeah, it's not Wim Hof. [1958.1] I know Wim Hof, that's what I did for my cold plunges, right? [1961.7] Fire, but no, it's calming. [1964.9] It's nervous system regulating. [1967.4] Okay, what if I did a little bit more yoga [1970.6] versus all the weights that I was doing, [1973.2] yes, weights are so important for Perry Menopause, [1975.2] as we know our friend, Jen Pyke talks about that all the time, [1978.8] But it's like, what is that balance that I'm seeking? [1981.8] What if I wasn't as rigid and structured? [1985.5] What if I woke up in the morning [1988.8] and then decided what I wanted to do for my fitness [1992.5] rather than having the whole week planned? [1995.5] What if trying to plan out the entire weekly schedule, [1998.9] especially for my children, you know, play dates [2001.3] and my meetings and how this whole ecosystem [2004.9] of family and life and business comes together? [2008.2] What if I just did it that day? [2010.0] What if actually didn't know what we were gonna do [2011.9] on Wednesday if it's Monday? [2013.5] Like how did that feel? [2014.9] Like less rigidity. [2016.6] I always rebelled against like the 5 a.m. club [2018.9] because I love my sleep so much. [2020.3] So that was something I was already embodying. [2022.2] But leaning into the things that I would normally not choose, [2029.8] because now they were in front of me [2031.6] and I had the opportunity to do it. [2033.7] What if before I went to pick up my children, [2037.1] I went to the ocean and I floated for 15 minutes. [2041.3] Huh, how did that feel? [2043.7] And then being there and feeling fully nourished [2047.2] and supported like, wow, that gave me energy [2051.1] and actually made me an energetic match [2053.2] for that podcast I was trying to book [2054.9] or for that client that I had to follow up with. [2059.1] And so really making the frequency work, [2062.5] the energetic work, priority over the doing [2067.1] and saying yes to things that I would normally [2069.7] not be attracted to. [2072.0] Powerful. [2073.1] So step two was like paying attention to the things [2075.9] that drew you in. [2077.2] And then the third step that I heard was through that process [2082.6] to really embrace the uncertainty of what's next. [2086.8] So and I think there's something there [2088.7] which is like a lot of times people were like, [2090.1] well, I did one retreat. [2092.2] I did one. [2093.5] I went to breathwork sessions for that four week session, [2096.3] that four week class. [2097.8] I know where clearer. [2099.0] And what I'm hearing you say, like in your sort of step three, [2103.3] was this conscious willingness to be patient [2108.3] and to give it more than enough time. [2111.4] You know, versus just enough, which is like how [2113.4] we sort of train ourselves, but this new shift [2116.3] like to as you sort of settle into these new things [2119.1] and a new experiences and paying attention [2122.7] to what you're drawn to to give it more than enough time [2125.9] before you demand clarity. [2128.4] Yes, and this is so deeply uncomfortable [2132.6] because you're sitting in this uncertainty. [2135.1] But how often do we or I, what I would do, [2139.3] is just rush through it because it doesn't feel good. [2142.7] Uncertainty for most humans does not feel good. [2146.5] And I already knew that from Tony Robbins' work. [2149.0] I already knew that logically, but it's like, [2152.5] for whatever reason, just deciding, [2154.9] I am going to sit in this shit, in this mess. [2158.3] That is my own. [2160.1] You know, this is all programming and beliefs [2162.9] that I hold within. [2165.0] And I'm gonna sit in them, [2166.9] because I also had the succession of creating you. [2170.0] I was like, I'm done with everything else [2174.0] that no longer serves me. [2175.4] And yes, it's brought success, [2177.3] But I'm chasing, and that's what we want to call it, [2179.3] because chasing is a masculine feeling, [2180.7] is like, I'm chasing the feeling of fulfillment [2183.6] and purpose and passion. [2185.2] And that means sitting in this discomfort for long enough. [2189.5] The next part of the journey that I identified [2192.5] as you were talking through was, [2194.2] you talked about when you decided to consciously trust [2198.1] your husband. [2199.0] And it sounds to me like there's a part which is like leaning [2202.9] in learning to trust. [2204.7] And as I shared in the intro to this episode, [2209.7] that was a really powerful conversation [2211.4] that we had where you're like, [2212.5] why don't you just trust? [2215.4] You know, and it was a really, you know, [2217.1] trust is sort of like a gateway drug. [2219.1] You know what I mean? [2220.5] Yeah. [2221.3] But it's like, it's one of these fundamental, [2224.5] you know, like in martial arts, there's like forms [2226.5] that you learn and the forms actually create [2228.8] the movements that help you as you're mastering [2230.9] the discipline. [2231.8] many of these. In some ways I feel like trust is one of these. It's like the form that you learn [2237.1] and practice to be able to really step into the fullness of what you're talking about, which is [2241.4] kind of uncovering your feminine power, really integrating it into who you are so that your next chapter [2247.5] can be informed with the fullness of who you are rather than just a part of who you are. [2252.5] And this and for every single area of life, because I realized, too, I had this moment of awareness, [2258.8] It's like I have been in my masculine energy for so long [2263.1] that that didn't actually allow my husband the space [2267.2] to thrive in his masculine [2269.7] and how many marriages have that dynamic [2274.2] with high powered women, right? [2276.5] I'm like, I must be a very difficult life [2280.4] because it's on my time what I want, [2284.5] I figure it out, I make it happen. [2287.3] where's his face to shine and to support me and to nurture me. [2291.8] And so the best that I could in that moment, [2295.9] I decided that I was going to enjoy [2298.5] all that he brought to the table [2300.1] and that included finances. [2301.9] I'm still doing my thing, but I wasn't doing it [2304.7] to my, you know, A level capacity [2308.7] because I was doing this work, [2309.9] which is actually more important. [2311.9] And so leading on him gave him more confidence, [2315.4] Like it perked him up. [2317.4] And I've seen that transition within him also. [2320.6] Like my husband is thriving in Mexico. [2324.6] The friendship he has, his physical appearance, [2328.3] like he's the fittest he's ever been our sexual life. [2332.7] Like, and it started with me saying, okay, [2336.3] I've kind of been cornered, like forced into this self-discovery, [2340.9] but I'm embracing it. [2342.5] Like that's what I, as much as I resisted it, [2344.3] I did, there came a pivotal moment where I just embraced it. [2346.9] I'm like, this is just what it's gonna be. [2349.5] And I trusted in the clarity, [2351.5] and yet I trusted the support system around me also. [2356.6] And it shifted, shifted my marriage. [2359.3] And that of course leads us to clarity. [2363.0] But you know, to like, to a place where you were able to, [2366.9] you know, after those, I think we sort of went through [2369.1] like five different steps. [2370.5] Honestly, you know, that I was able to sort of piece together [2373.1] you're talking through your milestones, like five, you know, sort of clear steps that [2378.0] you went through over that 18 month period. And it was at the end of that, that clarity [2385.7] came. But as you're, you know, some people say 18 months, but I think for a lot of us who are CEOs, [2391.5] who have teams who understand urgency, who, you know, all of those things, I think that prospect [2398.5] is terrifying. [2400.2] But what I would say, I think, is so important. [2402.1] Like, you know, from years and years [2403.9] of working with women, transparency is so critical for women. [2408.3] We just want to kind of understand, [2410.0] like we're not conditioned to walk into dark spaces. [2413.9] It's not safe, you know? [2415.7] Like, I saw the stat recently that 80% of the people [2419.2] who listen to true crime podcasts are women [2421.6] because we're obsessed with making sure that we're safe, [2424.7] you know? [2425.9] So when there is something that's scary, [2428.4] And I think what you're describing is probably [2430.9] what Maureen Murdoch would call the descent [2433.8] into the dark feminine, which is like the descent inward [2438.4] into something that we can't see into that mystery, [2442.3] which it's uncertainty, it's surrender, [2444.7] and allowing all of that work. [2446.3] I think when you have women like yourself [2449.1] who have been able to articulate a very clear pathway. [2453.4] So when I hear your story, my hope is when people hear this, [2457.3] They're like, okay, I know it's gonna be longer than I want. [2460.9] Could be. [2461.7] You know, I'm not gonna know, I'm gonna do weird things. [2464.7] I'm gonna have to trust my husband or my partner or my, [2468.5] you know, but when I think when somebody, [2470.6] when a woman kind of lays that path [2472.7] and it creates a level of transparency [2475.2] that can give us the courage to start. [2478.0] Also here too is like trusting yourself. [2480.2] Like we are who we are. [2482.6] Like my powerful masculine that creates powerful things [2487.3] the world and desires impact and growth and expansion. I mean, she's not going anywhere. She's not [2494.1] lost yet. She's this much more potent and powerful because she's now integrated this whole other [2502.5] side of her that was in there somewhere but didn't have space to fly. And that is that flow of the [2510.9] feminine and now I see the feminine as like, [2514.5] magnetism is the word that comes through. [2516.5] Like when I think of the integration of masculine and feminine, like we hold the masculine, [2521.9] I don't need to describe it. It's part of who we are, but that feminine, like she's magnetic, [2527.3] she attracts opportunities to her simply by being, by being. And this is the work that's the [2534.2] embodiment piece of like getting out of the mind. We know these concepts. We've all studied [2540.3] the greats. We logically understand all of these concepts, but it's actually, do you actually feel [2546.8] them? Are they a part of who you are? Do you show up in this way in every single area of your life, [2553.9] not just for your business? Because this integration piece, that's the life I want to live, is [2559.4] integrated and embodied in every area of life. What would you today tell the 2022 version of [2568.0] of yourself who had just sold love and power to go. [2570.4] Oh, like just relax. [2573.8] Like relax. [2575.8] You're safe. [2577.7] You don't need to figure it out right now. [2580.9] You don't need to rush to the next thing. [2584.5] Enjoy. [2585.6] Like you just had an exit. [2586.9] Like enjoy. [2589.1] Be present. [2591.4] Go inward and discover yourself. [2593.7] And so I mentioned before, like when I wake up, [2596.3] It's like, what frequency do I want to hold today? [2599.4] Today, my word was magnetism. [2600.9] That's the word of today. [2602.5] Okay, so what is magnetism feel like? [2605.5] Like what does it feel like? [2606.4] Logically, I know, but for me, [2608.9] it's like putting hand on heart [2610.9] and literally seeing like light come out of my body [2614.4] like sparkly and that sparkles attract [2618.2] your next investor, the best opportunities, [2620.9] the podcast, the stages, all the things, [2624.5] the clients, the paychecks, the next idea, [2627.0] the inspiration. [2628.5] The other thing I wanna say too that like, [2630.0] okay, pat myself on the back, [2632.2] as we had an idea to come through. [2636.6] So my husband has become more [2638.9] of a leap sus with Pickleball here in Mexico. [2641.3] And I understand it. [2643.3] I played for two hours last night. [2644.9] I get it. [2645.8] Yay. [2646.9] Okay, so in his passion, my passion was boring. [2650.5] And then of course I was like, [2652.1] let's create a Pickleball brand. [2654.0] So we hired this incredible designer from New York City. [2658.0] We have the brand. [2659.5] We have all of it. [2660.5] We have the paddle designs. [2661.7] We have the branding. [2662.5] We have the logo. [2663.3] We have all of it. [2664.4] We got samples. [2665.6] We just haven't pulled the plug yet. [2667.7] I'm waiting for that moment. [2669.2] Like this would have been me rushing the entire process. [2673.5] We did the foundations. [2675.2] And you know what I said to my husband the other day? [2676.7] I was like, think I want an investor. [2678.9] I think I want someone to partner with. [2680.7] I really enjoy collaboration. [2682.6] I really enjoy partnership. [2684.7] And there's this trust in self and trust [2687.9] that we will know when we actually go to launch, [2691.1] because it's all ready to go. [2692.7] We just need to get photography, [2694.9] create the website, videography, [2696.9] and place the large order, [2698.4] have the fulfillment house ready. [2699.9] We're just duplicating what we did with Love Power Co, [2702.8] but we're doing it in a completely different [2704.8] energetic frequency. [2706.3] Oh, that's so powerful. [2708.0] I wanna share something. [2709.1] So one of the things that is so key in the pathway is paying attention to these experiences [2716.2] that draw you in. [2718.3] When we were in Mexico and I worked together in Mexico recently, we spent a week with a group [2723.4] of incredible women. [2725.2] We had some incredible experiences and it was so deeply transformational. [2730.5] This group of women, just an incredible group of business leaders, really, really smart, [2735.7] incredibly accomplished. [2737.8] having these experiences together, [2740.8] to be able to tap into our feminine energy, [2744.2] to be able to deeply relax, [2746.3] but also to be able to be held in a space [2749.4] where you could process those experiences [2752.4] and not just what they meant for you, [2754.1] but how they shifted your outlook and business. [2756.6] I mean, people were taking action, myself included, [2758.9] like we were taking action and speeding stuff along [2762.3] that had been, it had not been able to move, [2765.8] for months and months. [2767.2] So as we sort of connected Anna through that experience, [2771.0] we decided that we were like, [2773.5] we have to be able to offer this to others. [2776.0] Like we have to be able to, [2777.4] we wanna bring together women to have a very [2780.9] deeply experiential week to be able to have, [2785.7] you know, have those kind of insights [2787.5] that we had, those experiences that we had. [2790.7] So we've decided we're gonna be taking [2793.0] a group of fantastic women to to loom. [2795.0] We are and it's gonna be, you know, [2797.2] I can already see the sales pages. [2799.1] You get a strategy session with Eleanor and yet [2802.4] you got your heart will be blasted open so wide. [2808.7] That it's nothing like, [2810.1] cause this is our experience. [2812.2] None of us could have predicted what was going to happen. [2815.5] Like I had been behind the scenes planning. [2817.7] So I had an eye, I kinda knew, [2821.8] But all of us were deeply transformed. [2825.2] And this is the experience that like, [2827.3] it's going to, like we will not be able [2829.1] to write it in marketing copy. [2831.0] Like it's just impossible. [2833.5] It needs to be experienced. [2835.1] And if this is like lighting you up right now, [2837.5] let Eleanor know because space is limited, [2839.4] but it's gonna be deeply transformational. [2842.6] We have almost half the spots spoken for by folks [2846.4] just as I've sort of been talking about it. [2848.5] Here's what I would say, like, [2850.1] There's the part which is just being in community [2854.0] with a group of incredible women. [2856.5] But what happened with me is that there had been a couple [2859.5] of things that I knew, hey, once I sort of move through [2863.7] this punch through this ceiling, so funny, [2866.5] once it punched through this thing. [2868.1] Let's reword that Eleanor. [2870.5] There's so much like on the other side. [2873.2] And I had everything set up, but I just couldn't make the move. [2877.2] And then we got to Mexico and we had some experiences. [2880.6] And we were just talking by the pool. [2882.5] And you and I had a wonderful conversation [2884.5] and it was done in five minutes. [2886.8] You know what I mean, major, major shifts. [2888.7] So I guess I'm sharing that [2890.5] because yeah, you can't really put it on a sales page [2893.2] but I think for so many women, [2894.9] we know there's something more. [2896.6] We know there's something different [2898.3] and we know there are things that we haven't been able [2900.6] to find it within ourselves to move or take action on yet. [2903.7] And we think we need to have the strategy, [2906.0] we think we need more information, we think we need, [2908.9] but what we really need is sort of this deep return [2911.3] to ourselves that has been carefully and thoughtfully curated [2916.1] by somebody who really knows what she's doing. [2917.9] And I think, as you listen to Anna talking [2920.1] through this experience, you really know [2922.7] how to curate and experience like this. [2924.8] So it's gonna be pretty epic. [2926.6] Okay, response. [2927.5] And I understand the fear of doing it differently, [2932.2] but I just hope that this was inspiration [2934.2] and it was a messy, messy ride, but it's just been so beautiful on the other side, [2940.9] because it comes down to the fulfillment within and not just transfers to every single [2947.2] area of life, because the question for me was like, what's this all for? If I'm just going [2951.4] to rush through it, and I no longer wanted to do that. [2954.7] And where can people go to learn more about you? Certainly, guys, if you're interested [2959.7] in coming with us to loom. Just send me a message on Instagram and just say to loom. [2964.9] And I will get you details.
